As you can see from the map below, Point Richmond is conveniently located to San Rafael and South Marin, as well as RIchmond, El Cerrito, Berkeley and Oakland. Point Richmond Acoustic presents an evening of award-winning folk music!

Friday, May 16, 8 PM

Susie Glaze

& the Hi Lonesome Band

with special guest Quiles and Cloud

For our season finale, we present Susie Glaze & The HiLonesome Band.
The Los Angeles-based quintet performs a lush, Americana fusion of mountain folk, exciting newgrass and Celtic-inspired originals, with the remarkable voice of Susie Glaze leading the way. As usual, the concert will be held at the historic First Methodist Church of Point Richmond, 201 Martina Avenue. Tickets are $18 and $15 for seniors and students and are available at the door. Special guests Quiles & Cloud open the show.

Originally from Tennessee, singer Susie grew up in the shadow of the Grand Ole Opry, and also starred in the original Broadway production of Roger Miller’s “Big River.” The HiLonesome Band features some of Southern California’s top folk and bluegrass musicians, with Glaze on guitar, dulcimer, and vocals, her husband Steve Rankin on mandolin, Rob Carlson on guitar and Dobro, Fred Sanders on bass and Mark Indictor on fiddle.

The band’s debut CD “Blue Eyed Darling” won the Just Plain Folks 2006 Music Award for Best Roots Album.” Their most recent record “White Swan” was on No Depression magazine’s Top 10 albums for 2013, and Glaze’s 2008 release, “Green Kentucky Blues,” was produced by the Bay Area’s own Bluegrass luminary, Laurie Lewis.

We have heard Susie sing many times, and each time we are bowled over by the beauty of her voice, and we’ve wanted to bring her and her band to Point Richmond ever since.  You can hear more about Susie and her band at

Special guests Maria Quiles and Rory Cloud are an Americana duo from San Francisco. The natural blend of their voices and subtle weaving of their guitars provide an elegant framework for their dynamic, imaginative music. Maria & Rory first met in San Francisco through the songwriter circuit in 2011. They quickly found passion in working together, noting the immediate ease and enjoyment in the process. Their first studio album, “Long Time Coming” was released in July of 2012 and nominated for a Grammy.

As you may know, the Point Richmond Acoustic concert series is co-sponsored by Point Richmond Music and the First Methodist Church. The Church itself is intimate and an acoustic marvel. The 100-year-old church is an octagonal wooden prism that appears to be built by nautical carpenters. It’s like listening to music inside a guitar. Our program is completely non-religious. It’s a friendly no-pressure environment. It’s all about the music here!

Last but not least, there are home backed desserts, coffee, tea, and an intermission where you can catch up with old friends and make new ones.

Come celebrate the season finale with a fine evening of pretty picking and inspired singing, up close and personal, at Point Richmond Acoustic, Friday May 16, at 8 pm.
